EXCERPT:

A soft cry woke Seth Gaius up. He nuzzled his omega’s neck before sliding out of bed. The baby monitor had been a brilliant idea on Quinn’s part. Ana wasn’t a loud crier, so it helped to have the monitor by their bed when their girl woke up. Seth walked into her bedroom, though the space was rather barren. Tomorrow, they’d be moving into their new place—a small apartment on the packhouse’s grounds. The rest of the Gaius pack had been given a choice to move as well since there was a lot of room between the campground full of cabins and the actual packhouse villa. Some happily agreed, but others had decided to move onto greener pastures, so to speak. Seth missed them, but merging with the Silverthornes made perfect sense in terms of safety and resources.

“Hey, baby girl,” Seth whispered as he lifted their daughter out of her crib. Wolves grew fast, and at only a month old, she was already the size and weight of a six-month-old human child.

“Babe?”

Seth smiled and turned. Ana sucked on his finger while he leaned in for a kiss from Quinn. “I’ve got this if you need to go back to sleep, love.”

Quinn slipped his arm around Seth’s waist. Unlike several of the Silverthornes, males in the Gaius family line were closer to average human males in terms of size. He and Quinn were about the same height, minus a couple of inches on Quinn’s part.

“I’m okay,” Quinn said before yawning.

Seth handed Ana to him and turned out the nursery light before following his lover to their room. He grabbed the nursing pillow and put it under Quinn’s left arm. Ana latched on almost immediately, and Quinn sighed, leaning his head back against the headboard of the bed.

“Hungry?” Seth asked him.

Quinn nodded. “What time is it anyway?”

Seth had to look at his cell still sitting on the bedside table. “Four. I need to be at the lab early this morning, too. Last-minute arrangements before I leave.”

“You aren’t regretting the move, are you?” Quinn asked.

Seth sat on the bed beside him and ran his fingers through Quinn’s short brown hair. “Not at all. I’m looking forward to being a consultant.”

Quinn’s eyes narrowed, and Seth knew damn well what was coming. “No more experimenting on yourself.”

Seth gave his mate a sheepish grin. “You’re never going to let me live that down, are you?”

“Not a chance,” Quinn replied. “You could’ve died, Seth.”

“I had faith in my antidote, though,” Seth countered. “But I promise: no more self experiments.”
