Description
Ian – Mychael Black
Southern Cross 5
The moment Ian Cross saw Matthew White in a store, he knew the omega was his true mate. Matt, however, wasn’t alone. Ian had no way to find him, but he didn’t need to wait for long.
Matt White dreamed of the alpha whose scent made it clear they were meant to be together. The dreams were the only things that kept him going–especially when the abusive asshole who’d knocked him up decided to dump him at the hospital and disappear.
A simple description to a nurse brought them together finally, changing both of their lives forever.

EXCERPT:
“If you feel like something is wrong, don’t hesitate to come to me at home. Otherwise, Ian will get you here if it’s an emergency.”
I stood in the doorway as my brother talked to my mate. Matthew had been in here a few days after his arrival in the ER, and he looked far better. When he’d first shown up, booted out of a car by the alpha who’d knocked him up and then beat him, it had been touch and go. I hadn’t held back when I returned the favor either. The bastard’s corpse was probably feeding wildlife on the old airport grounds where I’d left it after attacking him. I’d told Matthew the alpha was dead, but I hadn’t gone into detail.
“Thank you, Dr. Cross,” Matthew murmured in the soft-spoken voice that had filled my dreams since the first day I rushed to the hospital when he asked for me.
Colton smiled at him. “Call me Colt. We’re family.”
Matthew chewed his lower lip and nodded. “Okay.”
Colt patted his shoulder. “I need to get back downstairs, but you’re safe now. Ian has medical training, too.” He left the bedside and hugged me when he got to the door. “You’ve got this, but I’m always here,” he whispered. “I emailed you a list of things to watch for, and he’s got scripts waiting at the pharmacy. Chase said he’ll bring them home.”
“Thanks.”
“Anytime.”
Once we were alone, I went over to the bed and bent down for a kiss. It was all we’d done since meeting, but I was already thoroughly addicted. Cinnamon and orange filled my senses, intoxicating and warm, like a blanket infused with the smells of late autumn. Matthew only really relaxed when it was just me in the room. Even with Colt, he tended to shrink as if trying to make himself smaller and unnoticeable. He let out a soft, shy sound, and I wanted nothing more than to protect him from the world.
“Are you ready to go home?”
Pale blue eyes blinked up at me, and in their depths, I saw my future. Our future. The moment I’d scented him weeks ago in a co-op, when he’d been with that alphahole, I knew he was mine. I’m fairly sure that’s when I fell head over heels. Apparently, love at first sight was real.
Matthew touched my hand, and I linked our fingers, giving his a gentle, reassuring squeeze. He flinched whenever nurses or docs touched him, but he didn’t with me.
“Yes, please.”
