Andrew opened the door to his trailer. It was late, he was tired, aching, and it had been a long day, with a stuntman who didn’t really like him and a few too many hits to the face that were a bit more real than he liked. He opened the door and looked into the huge brown eyes of his co-actor and best friend, Julian.

“Julian, it’s late…” he said, exhausted. He knew he was defeated even as he tried to speak; he knew he would give in to whatever his friend wanted.

“Please?”

Andrew permitted him to enter the trailer, as if there was any doubt he would have done otherwise. He yawned, rubbing his eyes as his tall, lanky co-star entered.

“What’s up?” Andrew asked, closing the door.

Julian paced, agitated, and Andrew waited for him to find his voice. Julian looked cool and collected on the TV screen, but in reality, he was a skittish and emotionally troubled man. His fans thought he was cute and quirky. Andrew knew that, in truth, he was the adult version of a little boy who had been put through hell and wasn’t always able to communicate verbally. Andrew waited, knowing Julian would tell him what was up when he found the words.

Instead, Julian handed Andrew his phone, showing a wall of text. As Andrew read, Julian continued to pace. Andrew felt his brain break as he came to understand what he was reading. It was messages from Julian’s wife Mare to… another man?

“Julian, this has to be wrong. Mare loves you. She’s crazy about you! Aren’t you guys expecting a baby? You were just talking about it on…”

“Keep reading.”

Andrew did, and the more he read, the uglier it got.

“She’s not pregnant.”

“No.”

“She lied.”

“Yes, she did,” said Julian, pacing. “She wanted money for the loser she’s been talking to, and she told me she wanted a home in the UK so she could be close to her family. There’s no baby. There’s not even a marriage. There’s just lies, and I can’t believe she would do this to me.”

Andew shook his head, unable to process what he was reading. Finally, he looked at his friend. “What are you going to do?”
