EXCERPT
The pale green leather felt amazing. I ran my fingertip over the gold, embossed letters spelling out ‘BOY’ and smiled. I’d given up trying to find the right Dom after a few failed attempts and several miscommunications. I desperately wanted a collar, though, if only for a little comfort and normalcy. Living in a dorm might’ve helped with the transition into school, but my rather unusual interests made the idea of roommates a bit unnerving. Besides, my tiny efficiency, while not cheap, had more space than a dorm room.
After buckling the collar around my neck, I grabbed my keys, locked up, and headed for work. Thankfully, my job was only about three blocks away. I loved the walk, even with the Saturday shopping crowds.
“Merry meet,” Erin called from the front counter as I entered. “Oh, hi, Liam!”
I grinned and waved before heading to the back office where I knocked on the open door. “Hey, Jace. You want me on the counter or floor today?”
“Morning, Liam,” Jace said without looking up from his laptop. “Floor for now. Erin leaves at one, and you’ll be up front then.”
“Got it.” I went back out onto the floor. “Any stock?”
Erin finished up with a customer and pointed to a stack of boxes. “Buttload of books. I’ve been trying to put them out since eight. It’s been busy all morning.”
“Anything interesting happen this morning?” I asked as I began removing books from the first box.
“The resident Daddy came in, but that’s it.”
I glanced up. “Huh?”
“You haven’t met Morgan yet. He’s nice, kinky,” Erin said. That caught my attention. “You two would get along.”
“Now I’m intrigued.”
Erin winked. “He’s handsome, too. Older. Definitely your type.”
I just rolled my eyes. Since my first day over a month ago, Erin and I had formed a tight friendship. We looked out for each other, including scoping out potential partners. Though Erin preferred guys closer to her own age of twenty-five, I had always been a sucker for older men. I grabbed an armful of books and left Erin to help a customer. I perused the titles and back cover blurbs as I put the books away on their shelves. The bell over the front door jingled, but I ignored it since Erin was closer.
“Hey! Liam’s putting up books now. There may be some journals mixed in with those.”
“Thanks.”
A moment later, I turned and stared up into unnaturally golden amber eyes set into a handsome yet stern face. The barest hint of a five-o’clock shadow gave the man a rugged appeal. His short black hair sported a few strands of grey, and he stood about six inches taller than me. Gods, he was gorgeous.
